Legal Question in Personal Injury in Oregon

Son Injured another student

My high school son (18) injured another student on school property (after school was out and before soccer practice began). They were horsing around and the other boy's neck was broken. There were many witnesses and they all agreed that they were all playing around. No malicious intent. Should we contact an attorney?

Re: Son Injured another student

I'd start off with a phone call to your homeowners insurance (or tenant insurance) carrier. Odd though it may seem, there may be some coverage for an incident such as you describe, presuming someone makes a claim. You'll also want to get a much more detailed account of exactly how this happened from your son, before memories start to fade.

If you have assets you're concerned about losing in the event of a successful claim against your family over this incident, then it would make sense to speak with a lawyer about it. In any event, let's hope the other boy recovers from his injury.
