Legal Question in Telecomm Law in Oregon

ISP service

I received a bill for 5 years service for a dial-up internet account. When I called them, they said they were sorry that they hadn't billed me sooner. Can they look back that far? Don't they have some responsibility to provide a statement prior to 5 years passing?

Re: ISP service

Ask them for a copy of your written contract with them, which must be at least 5 years old. They probably do not have it and may well have no evidence that you were a customer. If so, then they cannot prove that you owe them anything.

You should get a new ISP, if you do not already have one.
