Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Oregon

Collection I was gjven 1983, by the executors of the estate

In 1983 my grandmother died. The executors of the estate gave to me a collection of elephants. Approximately 1 year ago I loaned them to a relative to be displayed at a family reunion and then returned to me. This relative has decided that the collection should be devided between all the relatives and not returned to me. Can I reclaim my property? The relative refuses to return my property.

If you were given the elephants in a probated estate over 15 years ago then those elephants should be legally yours. Yes you are entitled to them back. I recommend you contact an attorney immediatly. My number is 503 892-9301

You are certainly entitled to ownership and possession of the elephant collection. Once the estate has disbursed the property, it becomes the property of the recipient. You are entitiled to recover the elephants from the relative, who has no right to disburse them to anyone but you.

Depending on the value of the elephants, you may want to either contact an attorney for assistance or, if the elephants are in Oregon and valued at less than $5,000, you might want to pursue them using small claims court.
