Marriage License

does a bride have to sign a marriage certificate or can she make a mark and have a witness sign?

As I understand the law in Oregon, she can make her mark, but she is required to wear shoes during the marriage ceremony and must shave her armpits beforehand.

One's signature is any mark that the person adopts for that purpose. It is always good to have a signature witnessed so as to be able to better prove its authenticity.
