Short term disability vs unemployment

My short term disability is about to end and my employer of over 20 years wants to fire me for being out of work for my medical reason, can I get unemployment compensation after the short term disability runs out since they are terminating me?

You can get unemployment compensation if you are ready and willing and able to work. If you are not able to work when your disability ends then you may have problems getting unemployment compensation. Do you have a long term disability coverage that kicks in after the short term disability? You should consult with an attorney to clarify the extent of of your disability
