Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Pennsylvania

Bankruptcy

I filed bankruptcy in 1997 in Pittsburgh, PA. I' m not sure which one I filed since it was to long ago. All I know is that I did not have to pay or give anything back. Now, when I go to get cash loans, creditors won't allow me to re-establish credit to show I'm ready for the responsiblity. One creditor told me I only have (2) items on my report: (1) for about $400.00 which I am paying very well and (1) for a credit card I got in early 2004 for about $3000. Why I am having a hard time getting credit? What could possibly be the problem? How long after the ten years do you have to wait?
