Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Employment Protection Law and/or Employee finace prtection Law

I am a cashier at a small food store franchize. I am only 15 going on 16. I have been short in my drawer many time for unknown reasons. I didn't steal the money, not that my company thinks that I did. They made me pay it back without taking it out of my check, they made me pay it in cash. This made me a little fishy. My brother is a business major graduate and told me this was an illegal act. Is it illegal for them to make me pay them back the money?

If you are not stealing the money you have no obligation to pay it back. If it is small amount and you like working there it might be best not to say anything but if large or you could care less to work there than you might want to take a stand.
