Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

I want to start a business and need to know what are the advantages and disadvantages of using an on-line service to form a Single Member LLC?

Also, I am in the process of getting a divorce, should I wait until the divorce is final to form my company or is there a way to have my company sheilded from these proceedings if I choose to start it now?

Do you mean on-line vs. consulting an attorney? As an attorney I can hardly claim to offer an impartial opinion but: The online services, or any form service, generally use standard forms with little to no customization for your needs. Additionally, they don't explain what your business entity provides or involves. These things make real differences. When you have legal or tax issues later in the life of your business (and the reality is you almost certainly will), the terms of your incorporation will be of vital importance. However, you'll be relying on the terms of a business entity which may or may not suit your needs, and which you may or may not understand. Then you will have to pay a lawyer a great deal of money to get you out of the situation. Alternatively, you can ensure it's done properly from the beginning by consulting an attorney.

As to the question of the implications of divorce, I'm afraid you'll have to consult your divorce lawyer for a definitive answer. I can say that until your divorce is final, you are still legally married and all of the provisions of marriage apply, so it's good you're being cautious about this.
