Legal Question in Business Law in Pennsylvania

Teacher of Business Law needs Exciting Things to Do for Class

I am a new teacher of Business Law in a public high school. Besides my textbook, I don't often have much help in coming up with ideas to generate excitement from high school students. I wondered if you know of any places that I might go for new updated topics that might spark interest.

I suggest you first contact your local Bar Association. If I knew in which county your district is located, I could provide you with a number. Your local association may provide a speaker or other information. The Pennsylvania Bar Association may also be of some help. The law library may provide some resource material. You may want to have a trial to apply principles that you teach having each student play a role, such a lawyer, judge, witness or jury. You may even be able to get a Judge to lecture to the class and participate in a trial. Good luck.

Well, with the increasing interest in intellectual property and the Internet these days, you might plan a module about patents for new Web technologies. Within the past few days, the US Patent Office has added to its Web Site a section just for kids. I don't think it would be too babyish for high schoolers, though. See http://www.uspto.gov
