Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Pennsylvania

I am taking a class and am trying to find the answer to this question... what responsibilities of the driver of a vehicle if his passenger is in possession of a controlled substance and the drugs are discovered in a traffic stop?

If the drugs are in the possession of your passenger, and you have no knowledge of this fact, you should be OK. This would be so if the drugs were discovered on the passenger's person. If they were somewhere else in the car, you would have to prove that the drugs were his and he would have to admit it. Otherwise you would have a problem.
