Legal Question in Technology Law in Pennsylvania

Obituary

A long term friend of mine had recently started an arguemnt with me and made the statement that I should just go and die. I told them they dont mean that, they said they did. So to basically mess with them I have created a fake web site of a funeral home with an obituary. Its actually very well done. It hasnt been used yet though. Since I am not notifying the public of a fake death. Is there anything legally wrong? Or, is it just morally wrong?

Re: Obituary

You asked about creating a fake Web site.

Very generally, the criminal laws proscribes certain conduct and the civil law prescribes remedies for certain conduct.

I can't say for certain that there is no criminal wrong. Generally there would need to be an intent to defraud or injure in order to create a criminal wrong.

As to civil wrong, that will end up being a retrospective analysis. If any injury results then the trier of fact would have to determine the forseeability of that injury. If the injury was forseeable in the eyes of a reasonable person, then you're culpable.

I don't think the act is morally wrong.
