Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Collect payment from a friend

I opened a credit card for a friend to help him get furniture at his new place. I have all the receipts with my name on it and his address where the furniture was delivered. We are no longer together and he hasn't paid me anything towards the credit card bill. He also owes me $1000 in cash towards his security deposit. Which I wrote a check out for. How do I go about getting payment. We live in two different states.

In Maryland you can file a claim in District Court. If the amount owed is under $5,000 you can file in small claims court where the rules of evidence or relaxed. You can find the forms to file your complaint and additional information about filing in small claims court on the Maryland District Court website.
