Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Credit card is threating a lein

I just recieved a call from an old creditor saying I owe 49,000. I have not recived anything from this credit card company in months. I have paid 800.00 toward it so far. They wanted to me to pay them 900.00 right away and said they could place a lein on my home if I did not. I wanted to review my statement before I made a payment. I did and sent them a check for 200.00. that was all I could afford to pay until mid month. Can they still place a lein on my home if I am attempting to pay on this.

Re: Credit card is threating a lein

You have not supplied enough information regarding this debt. If it is an old debt there may have been a statute of limitation. Your payment may have revived there ability to continue to pursue the matter. If they have made threats it is possible they may have violated the fair debt collection act or state consumer laws. In any event you should discuss the matter with an attorney
