Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Personal loan

I received a preapproved loan in the form of a check in the mail from a finance co. It was for approx. $6500. I made the 1st payment, then my personal life changed. Can they garnish my wages or put a lien on the house that is deeded to my husband and myself?

Re: Personal loan

I suggest you seek legal counsel. In Pennsylvania there is no wage garnishment for personal obligations. If a judgment is entered against you individually (you would have to be sued first), that judgment would not be a lien against property owned as husband and wife. I assume the propety is entitled as "tenants by entirities". That is the legal interest owned by husband and wife. Gerald Hershenson Esq. 215-579-9390
