Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

What can I do if I keep receiving phone calls at work from a scam debt collector, even after I've sent a 'cease and desist' letter to them? I don't want to get in trouble at work! How do I handle? These people are scaring me. I'm afraid to answer the phone at work because they call from different phone numbers and area codes. Please help.

If they are calling and you have sent them a letter asking them to stop calling your workplace as your employer does not allow you to receive personal phone calls, this is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Under the act, you can recover attorney's fees and your actual damages or up to $1,000 for each violation.

I would talk to an attorney specializing in FDCPA violations - Lawrence Rubin is one lawyer I have heard of - here is a link to his website - http://www.pennlawyer.com. I am sure there are others - Greg Artim who has been active here in the past is another (here is a link to his website - http://www.gregartim.com/); he has a statewide practice. Or you are free to use someone close to you - however, I would pursue this.
