What has occurred when an attorney questioning a witness for the opposing side has that person become his witness ?

It's unclear from your question exactly what you mean. Do you mean during the course of a contested trial in court?

Any attorney would love to turn a "hostile" witness (for the prosecution) into a witness that ends up giving good information and testimony in favor of his/her client's case. If that happens, what has occurred is good lawyering!
