Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Verifying Safe Adult Websites

Hello. I have a question regarding Adult Material Websites. If a person viewing an adult material website, checks to make sure that the site carries the 18 U.S. 2257 compliance notice, is that a safe precaution to make sure that the site contains legal material? (That all visual displays are of legal age)

Re: Verifying Safe Adult Websites

That is, indeed, a safe precaution. However, if it is obvious and clear that the images are under-age children, then an individual is at risk for a criminal charge despite the disclaimer.

If you are looking at free sites on the world wide web which contain the 2257 disclaimer, then you are fine 99.9% of the time.

If you get into FTP archive pages or newsgroups stuff, or any remote corners of the internet where child porn may be found, then the disclaimer becomes less meaningful.
