Legal Question in Education Law in Pennsylvania

Teacher dating.

A teacher and myself don't have anything going on. But it's a proven fact we like eachother. I'm 18. I never had him as a teacher, and won't because I'll be a senior and he's a sophmore teacher. I'm not like 18 year old girls my age in my school. I'm more mature and independent and that's why there's such an attraction. If I'm 18, he never was or really will be my teacher, he just teaches at my school, is it still illegal to date? What about over summer vacation? Nothing really has happened but I feel as if I really have feelings for him. I want to know what the rules are so I don't say something out of line to get him or me introuble. He never said anything officially it's just all intuition. What are the rules and my rights?

Re: Teacher dating.

In terms of your age, it would obviously not be a problem for the two of you to date.

However, because he is a teacher at the same school as you, he may be putting his teaching license at risk should the two of you become involved.

It would be safer for him to wait until you graduate.
