Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

buying a home when estranged from spouse

My spouse and I are separated and planning on a divorce in the future. I am buying a home by myself, without his name on the deed. Can he have any claim to it when we divorce? We have separated our finances, but do not have a legal separation document in place.

Re: buying a home when estranged from spouse

You should have your arrangement on paper & signed. He could still press a claim in the divorce to some part of the value of the house. The strength of his claim depends on circumstances not included in your question. So get it in writing to avoid problems in the the future.
