Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

Common law marriages

Dear sirs, i have a question i have lived witha man for 7 1/2 years now and i moved form my home into hi (inwhich he owns), it was under forclosure when he was living with me, so i gave my home up and moved into his home. Now after 7 1/2 years he wants to throw me out. Do I have any legal rights. I've payed all the bills except the morgage (he didn't either until just last week) to keep it out of forclosure again. But for the past 7 14/2 years I've paide every other bill in the house and now he's saying i need to leave, he's throwing me and my children out. i don't know if i am common law married to him i am divorced and so is he, like I said he took me from my place of living and we are engaged and now after 7 1/2 years he wants to put me on the streets, i have fixed thiiis home, put alot of money in it and time. Can you please help me know my rights and what i need to do, because I feel i shpouldn't have to leave. His name is the only one on the deed. I really would appreciate your advice, i need it and am very hurt. thank yous!

Re: Common law marriages

Common law marriages have a very serious test that you must prove to assure the court. Living together for 7.5 years does not make you a common law couple. You would need to prove that you acted like husband and wife and people you knew you as a married couple.

If you cannot prove you are married you probably have no right to the property or any of the equity in the property
