Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

divorce issue

I filed for Divorce in 1994,In Philadelphia Pa. It is still an open case I believe, but, nothing has been done to resolve the issue. I gave up trying to get it done years ago because my Estranged Husband fought me long and hard, seems the Court delayed over and over. I would like to know if I could have my case moved out of Phila. Court system and re-issue it in the area I'm living in now.I'm in the Phila. Burbs. Thank you for your time.

Re: divorce issue

I would need to check to see if it is still open. If it was filed that long ago and nothing has been done, it is possible that the court has dismissed it. They usually send notices to the parties before they do that. If so, you can re-file it where you are now living. If not, you can transfer it, however, it may not be worth the cost transferring it, rather than finishing it up in Philadelphia. I practice both in the suburbs and Philadelphia.
