Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

I am a non custodial parent who is responsible for 50% of any outstanding medical bills that occur for the child. (even though I am also the parent that carries the medical insurance for the child also). Any outstanding medical bills are being put in my name, however are being addressed to the custodial parent. The custodial parent is then informing Domestic Relations of these bills and that I am not paying them AFTER they are in collections, and I know nothing about them. So then not only are the bills on my credit when I knew nothing about them, I am having to pay them through a collection agency. Domestic Relations said there is nothing they can do about this. I am more than happy to pay for my 50% of the bills, however, I cannot keep having them ruin my credit because I am not aware of the bills!

If you have legal custody you have the right to know when your child goes to the doctor and what for. Also, medical bills shouldn't go into collection until you get an explanation of benefits from your insurance company.

If it's not happening this way give me a call the initial consultation is free.
