Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

I just split with my boyfriend and want to seek ownership of our dog. He originally paid for the dog & his vet bills, but the dog has been staying with my parents and I for the past 10 months. I have paid for the last vet bill, food, registration, and medicine that he has needed. My ex never came to pick him up, though he visited occasionally, & I have taken the dog with me for the weekend when I stayed at his place. The dog has become part of my family...is there any way that I could pursue custody of the dog?

Custody is for for human children. Your boyfriend bought the dog. The dog is the boyfriend's dog regardless of who paid vet bills or anything else unless your boyfriend gave or sold the dog to you.

I am not sure why the dog is living with you, but if you have possession, maybe your boyfriend no longer wants the dog. If the dog means that much to you, do not give him back unless your boyfriend demands him back. However, make it clear that if your boyfriend is going to ask for the dog back, then you are going to charge your boyfriend for boarding his dog, as well as reimbursement for the vet and other bills.
