Termination of Parental Rights/Adoption
My ex husband signed papers to voluntarily give up his rights to our children. My fiance of 4 years is willing to adopt the children. We are marrying in August of this year. My concern is... his child abuse clearance came back clear, but he has a felony in 1989 for theft by unlawful taking and a dui in 1993. He's never been in trouble since. He is a hard worker, his been with his current job 8 years now. Will the judge deny him over something that happened 19 years ago?

When do you plan to adopt? The answer should be AFTER you get married.

More than likely his criminal record won't even come up. Especially since neither of the charges involve children.
