Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

What is the best way to work out a custody agreement? Do we need to have an attorney or can we just write it up and get it notarized and signed by both parents. I want it to be binding as both parents would like equal rights but the grandparents have other ideas and may fight it.

Thank you.

It would be nice to say you could do it yourselves. However, This is an agreement that needs to meet certain standards to be enforceable. For example you need to file a custody petition with the court and have the court issue and order. If both parents agree you sign an agreement that the judges makes an order of the court. It can e done so neither party sets foot in the court house. Just signing a document notarized or not is not enforcable.
