Legal Question in Medical Leave in Pennsylvania

FMLA leave

Can my employer force me to use FMLA leave, if I have no sick or vacation time to use and they don't pay me while I'm out anyway. ( I missed three days due to severe back pain relating to Pregnancy with a doctors note. I was told that it would count towards my FLMA leave. Can they force me to use this time?

Re: FMLA leave

You asked about FMLA leave.

Uhhh, you sort of don't understand what FMLA leave is. If you don't take FMLA leave then the employer may be able to fire you for job abandonment. Pregnancy by itself does not entitle you to take off from work. Without vacation or sick time then you aren't at your job and aren't entitled to any time off. FMLA guarantees that you have your job when you return from your medically required absence.

Regards,

Roger
