Legal Question in Medical Leave in Pennsylvania

We are foster/pre-adoptive parents for two siblings. We have a mandatory home visit scheduled by the county agency, and a court hearing scheduled which will determine if the status of the girls will be changed so that the adoption process can start. Can I use FMLA for the two days of work that I will need to miss in order to attend both the home visit and court hearing? This is in Pennsylvania, and I would be requesting unpaid leave. Thank You.

Generally FMLAleave may be used for such a purpose, but very specific rules ofbyour employer could prohibit such use if such rules are already in place and have been uniformly enforced. Also be sure to consider whether your employer is a covered employer and whether you are an eligible employee.
