Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

boss owes me money; verbal agreement

My mentor in a insurance sales company had me rent a car for him and he couldn't be present. i used my own credit card and he promised to pay me back. He ended up keeping the rental car for more than a month and my card was charged over $3000. He keeps swearing he will pay me back. I am no longer involved with this company; is there any way to legally force him to pay me back?

Re: boss owes me money; verbal agreement

You asked what to do about getting money repaid from a former employer.

There are a number of options. The first is going directly to the source. Only deal in writing (email counts) so that way you have a record. As for that matter, save any email or other record that you have of his agreement.

The next method is to approach this person's superior. If that isn't successful then approach the compliance or legal department of the company. And of course, you may use the small claims court system. But try to use the other methods first and that can help you with the final step.

Of course, an attorney can help you resolve this matter and will probably be more successful than anything you can do.
