my ex has my drumset and wont give it back,i tried to get a copy of the receit from the drum shop but i had gotten one months before but lost it in a move and now they wont look for it again,my mom bought me it right before she passed away and it means a lot to me,he said if he finds out im trying to get my stuff back he'll take it somewhere else and say he doesnt have it what am i supposed to do the cops said go to the local judge and file a civil complaint should i

Yes, you can sue her for the price of the drums. As I recall the DJ does NOT have jurisdiction in Replevin (Make them give it back) case.
