Legal Question in Insurance Law in Pennsylvania

Under Insured Motorist

My ex-husbands step-son was hit and killed by a train in someones automobile. He has an attorney calling my house for information regarding my insurance that I have on my son. The are telling me that my son can get money from my insurance due to the death of this child. This boy who was killed isn't related to my son or my ex by blood, just by marriage. Also, he is telling the attorney that my son lives in his home equal time as he does with me - this is untrue. My insurance company doesn't know what this is all about and I don't want to give them any information because it sounds like they are trying to involve my son in Insurance Fraud (something they have done before). Do you know what this is all about? Please help me understand. Thank you

It's not possible or prudent to even try to give you specific advice. You should consult an attorney if you don't trust your insurance company.

It's not clear how your son, as opposed to your ex's step son, is involved in any of this. Many other facts need to be explored as well.

It's possible, if the boy lived in your home, that he might have coverage for limited no-fault type benefits (called PIP), but that depends on the facts,

Underinsured motorist coverage also provides benefits to cover the damages caused by another driver who doeesn't have enough insurance. Again, the facts are critical to determine how a relative might be covered under different policies. The statute sets forth the priority for coverage, but it's way to complex to even begin to discuss here because there's so many variations.
