Legal Question in Employment Law in Pennsylvania

My daughter has just been fired from her job as a medical technician. She missed two days of work because she was experiencing pain in one of her legs. It turns out that as a result of a car accident a few years ago, a rod had to be placed in her leg and now it's giving her problems. The doctors at the emergency room suggested that it needs to be removed. She has not even seen an orthopedic surgeon yet to schedule the surgery. However, the doctor at the emergency room where she went excused her abscence from work and sent a letter stating that she is to return to work with some restrictions. She cannot stand of sit for long periods at a time. The note did not specify a time frame. Can she be fired for this?
