Re: apartment

A landlord is required to provide a habitable apartment, and if your bathroom does not meet minimum requirements, he is in violation. You should first document the condition fo the bathroom, and put your complaints in writing if you have not done so to date, then, if he does not make repairs, you have options, you can call the township and/or county for an inspection. You can put your rents into an escrow account and tell thelandlord in writing that you will do so until you can afford to pay to have the work performed yourself and pay for it out of they escrowed rent, or if you can pay for the repairs out of pocket, do so and withhold rent until you reimburse yourself. The key is telling the LL i writing what you want and what you are doing to fix the problem in writing, and to ACT REASONABLY AND PUT EVERYTHING IN WRITING!
