Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Pennsylvania

A couple is living together. The male supplies the money for the security deposit without a written or verbal agreement to have the female pay him back. The couple breaks up. They terminate the lease early and the land lords only give half of the security deposit back to the male. The male is demanding the other half from the female because it was her fault they broke up in the first place.

Can this hold in court? or can the female just tell the male to take it up with the landlords?

Thanks

If you were both on the lease, and now separated, the landlord did the right thing, because he didn't care who paid the security deposit and doesn't want to get in trouble for not dividing it equally. Even if the mail paid the security deposit, he can't get the other half based on the fact that it was her fault that they broke up. Unless the couple had an oral or written agreement between themselves concerning the security deposit, the male should not be entitled to the female's half.
