a former landlord has thretened to sue me for 2 yrs of water and sewer bills that he never sent me.These bills are in his name.can he sue me for a utility bill that is not in my name? I had a 1 yr lease when i moved in and he never renewed it.I was there 5 yrs and do not owe any rent

Are you still there? Look at your lease agreement. If it says you are to pay water and sewer, and you are still living there, I'd offer to pay for the last 12 months, but that's it. If not there anymore, I'd tell him he's out of luck. Snooze, you lose! Wait, you were there 5 years, and he's asking for 2 years of water and sewer, so, did you pay the water and sewer the first 3 years? If so, you may have a problem. I have often seen a single water and sewer bill, where there were 2 or more rental units. If that is the case, look to the lease, and unless it states how the water and sewer is to be split, I'd say the LL has a problem!
