Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Pennsylvania

Where can I file

I have a problem with the dental work I received in Pittsburgh. Since then I have moved to Maryland. Do I have to hire a lawyer in Pittsburgh although it is hard for me to go to his/her office?

Re: Where can I file

Your claim can only be filed in penna. and in the county where the care was given or where the defendant resides or works. That doesn't mean you have to come to Penna. to get a lawyer. Much can be done by telephone or correspondence. You could not use the federal court unless the amount of your claim exceeded 50,000 dollars. Even then with few exceptions the claim would have to be heard in a Pa. fed ct. You should consult a Pa. lawyer to determine whether the facts of your case justify you pursuing a claim.

Re: Where can I file

You must file where the incident occurred. A Pennsylvania attorney can handle the claim for you. Telephone conference calls and the Postal service would eliminate trips for you.
