Compensation for personal injury lawyers

I would like to know if all personal injury lawyers work on a contingency basis or if some of them charge as they go along on their cases.

It can vary, depending upon the case. Sometimes, the lawyer may not want to be "out of pocket" on the expenses, during the discovery and litgation.
