Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania

property damage

Our son was at a friends house where they were riding the friends motor scooter. My son was riding when the friends dog bit the fender ,causing my son to fall. The scooter sustained scratches along one side. Are we responsible to pay for these damges?

Re: property damage

Generally, parents are not liable for damages caused by their children. If you were liable, your homeowners insurance would probably cover it. But it doesn't sound like your son was in the wrong--his friend did not have his dog on a leash, and that failure to control the dog is, IMHO, the cause of the damage. You might want to report it to your homeowners carrier just to be safe.
