Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania

which state to hire a lawyer

I was injured when my motorcyle crashed on oil dumped by a truck turning in the entrance to a truck stop. The oil was on the highway. The truck was in the truck stop having the oil leak repaired and I have his statement and information, collected by the Ohio State police. The location was in Ohio. I live in Penna. I do not have collision or medical insurance coverage on my policy for this motorcycle. I have sustained 5 broken ribs and besides the pain have not been able to work. Should I hire a lawyer in Ohio or Penna to make the claim against the trucking company which is also based in Ohio. thanks you.

Re: which state to hire a lawyer

At this point it does not matter where your lawyer is located. You need an experienced personal injury lawyer with whom you feel comfortable. That lawyer will present your claim to the trucking company. Hopefully your claim will be settled prior to filing a lawsuit. If a formal lawsuit needs to be filed in Ohio, and you initially chose a Pa. lawyer, your Pa. lawyer will associate with an Ohio lawyer for litigation purposes. I hope the above answers your question. Please contact me if you need additional assistance.
