Deed Transfer

My parents own a home free and clear and would like to tranfer it to me. I am thier son. How fast would we be able to get this done and would I be subject to the min transfer tax?

The lawyer in me starts with the question of why would they want to do this?

Their are a few great reasons to do this and a greater number not to do this transaction.

First, the e-mail says related to PA law, then says the location is NJ... Which is it? You can do the transfer very quickly, but you need to speak with an attorney first to discuss why they are doing it, as this may not be a wise decision depending upon the circumstances. If they transfer for a $1, I have not done this before, but I believe it can be done, but when you sell, you may be subject to tax on the full sale price. Speak with someone, don't act haste fully.
