What is the statute of limitation when asking for an engagement ring back after the guy broke off the engagement and told the girl she could keep the ring.

There is no real statute of limitations in this question. It would be highly fact intensive and any ruling would depend on the specific jurisdiction, the facts of the case and the jurist hearing the matter.

Engagement rings are often seen as gifts to which no return may be required. But they are just as often seen as promises which must be returned when the engagement is called off. Sometimes who ends up with the ring can simply depend on who called off the engagement (e.g. if guy end it the girl keeps the ring and vice versa).
