Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

lease on property

I am in the process of buying a house, however I just found out that the current owners have a lease with a third party for them to allow a lighted sign to be on the property. The lease reads for 99 years and has a clause saying its binding upon their respective heirs, executors, successors and assigns. My question is do I have to honor the lease since I am buying the property?

Re: lease on property

There are several issues that would go into determining your rights. Did you see the sign when you viewed the property? If so, did you inquire about it? Was there any disclosure by the seller? Did the agreement of sale make any mention of leases?

You should consult with a real estate attorney in your county, to review your agreement of sale and any other documents that are part of the transaction, to determine your rights and what course of action you might take.
