Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Tree

My neighbor has a very large buckeye tree. It is constantly dumping leaves, flowers, buckeyes and branches on my car and front porch. Can we have him cut the tree back?

Re: Tree

You asked if you could require a neighbor to cut back a tree overhanging your property.

No. You can't require the neighbor to do so, but you may be able to reach a mutually satisfactory solution.

A property owner can trim a tree back to the property line even if it grows on another property. The caveats are, doing so must not harm the whole tree and it must be done in a professional and workmanlike manner.

So, speak with your neighbors and see if they have any input on cutting back the tree. Then hire somebody and have the work done.

Regards,

Roger
