Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Pennsylvania

harasment via the internet at work

what are my rights as far as privacy and my

personal e-mail address when read while at

work? Does my employer have the right to ''trace''

or ''track'' my activity while on the internet? Does

my employer have the right to ''track'' or ''trace'' my

internet activity while i am at home? I believe that

my activities on the net have been viewed by my

employer and a ''trace'' or ''track'' has been made

by my employer while i have been on the internet

at home and not at my workplace. What are my

rights and would this constitute harasment?

What advice would you offer if what i believe is

true and my employer has done something to

raise an eyebrow?

Re: harasment via the internet at work

If you are at work and working on computer equipment owned by your employer, your employer has the right to monitor your work on the computer. If you want privacy in your communications you should not view or compose private communications at work.

It isn't really apparent how your employer is tracking your internet use at home, but if you are working on a laptop or other employer provided computer equipment for work use at home there is an argument that your employer can monitor your use of *their* equipment. If you are using your own computer at home for personal reasons your employer should not be tracking you.
