Legal Question in Social Security Law in Pennsylvania

social security disablilty and renting out a house

I own a house and am on SSD and widow benefits. I tried to sell it via land contract and was ripped off to the tune of over forty thousand dollars,(house is life savings). Now I had to pay a contractor to fix most of the damages and rent it out now. Will this income go against my SSD?

If your social security benefits are based upon your or your husband's work records, your income and assets will not affect your SSD benefits; income and assets are relevant only for SSI and Medicaid and some other state entitlement benefits

If you receive SSI, Suppplemental Security Income, yes. If you are receiving a disability insurance benefit, probably not. Contact your local SSA office and ask them to review your situation.
