Re: ssi

SSI is a needs-based program for people who have not paid enough SS and do not have enough credits for workers disability.

SSI has household/family income limits so if your wife has income over the limit, you are not eligible.

Ask the SSA office to re-check the numbers.

Re: ssi

there are two separate programs that may apply to a disabled worker. SSD social Secuity Disability is for those persons who have previously worked and then become disabled under SSD guidelines. Inorder to qualify aside form the medical condition you must have sufficient work credits from previous emplyment. SSI is for those individual who have insufficient work credits it is also a needs based program and is dependent on certain income earnings if you earn over a certain amount and/or have assets over a certain amount you do not qualify. Family or household income of other family members who reside with you is relevant and could disqualify you from receiving SSI. You should contact Social Security to make sure that you do not qualify under SSI guideline or have insufficient work credits under SSD where income would not be relevant. If you desire to schedule an appoint ment for a consultation you may contact my office to discuss this further.
