Legal Question in Traffic Law in Pennsylvania

parking lot accident, they admitted fault, I have no insurance

I had an accident in a parking lot, they pulled out from a no parking yellow curb, and bumped my car, he gave me insurance info, they're insurance said we had an accident with you. I went and got estimates for door on my own.., they said okay, send them estimates and proof of insurance, and they would send me a check.

I didn't have insurance,so I haven't said anything about insurance, will I get into trouble about that?

Do I just forget the accident, and fix door on my own? I cant imagine they will call me again, since they think it will be costing them money.

Thank you for your time and help !!!

Not having vehicle insurance in a state where insurance is required is a crime. Any lawyer will tell you to have insurance or don't drive the car.

If you have an accident and you don't have insurance you are personally responsible for all damages (that's what insurance is for). In addition you will be charged with failure to maintain insurance and your insurance rates will skyrocket for years. Most likely you will be relegated to the insurance risk pool. You may also be subject to having your license suspended.

Further, even if you are in a not at fault accident where you or your passenger is injured you may not be able to collect anything against the other insured party beyond property damage.

All that said, as to your current predicament, you are eligible to have your property damage covered by the other party. The other insurer may or may not become aware of the lack of insurance but it should not have a bearing on this matter.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss this matter or any other.
