Do I need an attorney in another state

My father is in a nursing home in Richmond, VA and I live in Johnstown, PA To be a power of attorney for him do I need to find a lawyer in virginia or can I get one locally to help with that. Regarding his health and financial matters and the sale of his home?

If you do not already have a power of attorney you will need to have one drafted that complies with VA law; I suggest you get a VA lawyer, in the area that your dad is in - whomever drafts it will want to speak with him personnaly to insure his competence at the time he signs it.
