Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

My brother and I are co-executors of our fathers estate. He lives in PA and I in AZ. We will be auctioning father's house and I'm told I have to physically be at the auction in PA. My brother and I trust each other completely and I would be willing to have him make the final auction decisions. Are there alternatives to me not being at the auction?

Yes. There should be no co-executors. I am a firm believer in only one chef in the kitchen. Your brother lives in PA, you don't. You should renounce as executor. Renouncing your right to serve as executor does not mean you are giving up your share of the inheritance. It just means you are not going to be responsible for handling the estate.

I agree with Attorney Davidson - you indicate you were give information by someone. Is this the attorney for the estate? If so, then you need to have a conversation with him or her as to why it is necessary that you travel all the way across the US to be there and you need to ask him/her why you cannot just renounce if that is the case. I cannot think of any reason why both executors need to be there unless some issue arises. But if it does, I don't see why you cannot participate by phone or skype or something. Or, as I said, just renounce.
