How long till a will is probated? And so after probated is public knowledge?

There is no set time limit for probating a will. Ideally, it should be done 30-60 days after a person's death or as soon as the personal representative gets the death certificate.

A will is a public record immediately upon filing with the probate court. However, if the will is filed, it necessarily may take a day or two, depending on how busy the court is, to log in the will into the system.

If privacy is an issue, the testator should consider creating a revocable living trust if he/she is still alive.
