Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

Can Stepfather-in-law disinherit Mother-in-law?

My mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law were both previously widowed/widowered. When they married, he retired and bought the house they now live in, but both their names are on the deed/title. 16 years later, he is trying to shield his estate from her by setting up some sort of investment fund and cutting her out of everything else, especially the house. He wants to leave everything except the fund to the husband of his deceased daughter and his two adult sons. BTW, my in-laws are still married, but she is pretty angry. Is this estate shielding legal in Pennsylvania? What should she do to protect herself?

So long as the house is in both names, it cannot be taken away from your mother-in-law. Her husband may attempt to do other planning to disinherit her. She should consult with a family lawyer and an estates lawyer to find out what her vulnerabilities are and how she may protect her rights and interests.
